Birds-eye view of Frosty

Saw this on Stampin'Up's website and had to see if it was as simple to make as it looked. Isn't this a clever idea?

Owl Be Darned...these are a Hoot

Having too much fun playing with the owl punch. Lots of great ideas on the web and at the Stampin'Up web site.

Judy even tried her hand at making a Phillies ballplayer Owl (below). I still haven't spent a lot of time making up "owl" type sayings for these cards, but I'm right on the edge of getting corny... any suggestions will be appreciated. Joan has a talent for having just the right sentiment and promises to share them with us.

Finally finished the last card for my workshop while waiting for Trick or Treaters tonight. Here is the pop-up I promised for the November 6th workshop.

Sunday, October 24, 2010

Our next workshop is November 6th and we'll be making three Christmas cards. We'll use the Come to Bethlehem set once again. I got this idea from my upline, Barb Mueller, while up in Erie, PA this month. The wisemen are stamped on glossy cardstock that has been colored using a brayer. After our previous attempts to get a good, clean stamp of the wisemen, you'll agree that this gives the nicest affect so far.
Our second card is a snowflake card embossed with silver and with rhinestones added. This card was created by Bozena and definitely the favorite at our "show-off" table at Camp last week.
The last card isn't quite ready for display yet. We will be using the Merry Crittermas set and it's going to be a pop-up card. Hope to see you at the workshop.

Christmas Card Marathon

We'll be making two cards of each of the following designs at our Christmas Camp on October 16th. There may be one change if I'm able to come up with a design I'm pleased with. I will move one of these cards to the workshop on November 6th.

Most of these cards were made using Cherry Cobble cardstock, Old Olive cardstock and Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper. The gift card holder card was made using Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper.

I used the Dasher single stamp for this card and stamped the "joy" from Delightful Decorations and then punched out with a circle punch.

This card was created with the holly stamp from the Bells and Boughs stamp set and the Delightful Decorations stamp and then punched out with the Ornament punch. It's a simple but very pretty card.

This card was made from the Come to Bethlehem set. I found the We Three Kings sheet music on the internet, shrunk it down and changed the color to a light brown. I ran Very Vanilla through the printer and was able to print four card fronts per sheet. I cut the star apart from the stamp so I could put it up toward the top of the page and used gold embossing powder. The wise men are stamped in a brown and then colored in with a corresponding marker. After trial and error, this seemed to produce the best results.

Our next workshop will be September 11th. We'll be doing lots of cutting and punching for these cute cards but you'll have to agree that they're pretty darn cute. The pumpkin card is made using the new Autumn Spice Designer Series Paper. It's extra thick and perfect for making any fall decorations for decorating your Thanksgiving table.

We've all fallen in love with the owl punch. It's very versatile and brings out the creativity in everyone. Owls are definitely the "hot" item this year. What a hoot!

Happiness Shared

Didn't this come out nice? It's a birthday card for the lady hosting a workshop tomorrow. It's not a combination I would normally think of but I did the flower first and then needed to come back with something to coordinate. I saw a similar red one online. I like the way it looks and may be trying to put Bashful Blue and Black together again. I like these new pearls we are carrying this year. I found them very easy to use although I had to dot glue and attach them, the adhesive wasn't cutting it.

Nature's Nest Zindorf Style

I saw this card on Michelle Zindorf's blog and couldn't resist attempting to make it. She has so much talent and imagination and I'm sure I'm not doing it justice but here's my attempt. I hope you like it.

Here are some nice, simple cards. This first one is using the Pink Flamingo DSP from the 2009-2010 idea book. I love the bright colors and I love the new greetings stamp set Word Play that I used on both cards.

Because I Care

Couldn't resist just one more Because I Care card. We're
finding this to be a very versatile
stamp set. It's a Level 1 set so it won't be hard to earn if you host a workshop. Let me know if and when you're interested.

Dasher - Our first Christmas card of 2010

Our workshop this week will include the black and white votive candle birthday cake easel card (whew) and the Dasher Christmas card. There are going to be quite a few steps from start to finish on both these cards so be prepared to get creative. Look forward to seeing everyone bright and early Saturday morning.

Votive Candle Birthday Cakes

Down the road we'll be making this card. As you can see, I'm using a battery-powered votive candle to make my cake and I'm using the easel card for the greeting and display. I think you'll agree that anyone would be pleased to get such a special birthday card.

We'll be doing a gift project at our next workshop. The new hostess set, Because I Care, is a perfect stamp set to create this lovely gift. I know everyone would like to host a workshop so they can have this set. Get in touch with me and we'll set up a date for your workshop.

This set was done with Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla and Early Espresso. We will make a folder to hold the cards using the hydrangea stamp on Very Vanilla cardstock stamped in Early Espresso ink.

Below are the cards I've been working on these past few weeks. The first five are from the set Elements of Style in the summer mini catalog. The motorcycle and graduation stamps also came from the mini. You'll recognize the christmas ornament punch as the vase for my single flower cards. You'll recognize Tart and Tangy, Lovely As A Tree and Pocket Silhouettes..all good old standards.

Here are the cards I'll be doing at this weekend's workshop (March 13, 2010). The picture of the butterfly card doesn't do the card justice and no, it's not slanted, that's just my lack of scanning expertise!

Snow in Georgia. This is unbelievable, fun, and beautiful.

Here are cards from the January 2010 workshop. The "Friends" card is an easel card. This was done using Kraft cardstock and the Bella Blue Designer Series paper. It's a lovely card.
